OrthoGrid Systems and nView medical will team up to integrate tools that may increase surgical accuracy and O.R. efficiency and improve patient outcomes.
Initially, the companies are executing a proof of concept exercise for a periacetabular osteotomy (PAO), to be followed by expansion to additional musculoskeletal procedures. PAO preserves the hip joint by repositioning the native acetabulum in an effort to reduce the risk of a future total hip replacement.
OrthoGrid offers PhantomMSKâ„¢ Hip Preservation, the first PAO-specific, imaging-based, surgical navigation application on the market. The nView s1 system offers insta-3Dâ„¢ technology to provide 3D images within 2 seconds, without interrupting the surgical workflow, as well as quantum-doseâ„¢ technology that creates 3D images with a fraction of the radiation dose. This offers an alternative to the current option of 2D imaging data, offering critical information to the acetabular osteotomy and positioning.
Both nView and OrthoGrid technologies are AI-driven, open platforms designed to work within the surgical setup to improve accuracy, workflow efficiency and patient outcomes. With nView 3D imaging data, planning can be achieved intraoperatively, reducing the need for pre-op planning. Further, post-op alignment verification via x-ray may be avoided, drastically reducing overall radiation exposure to young patients.
